That's bad.
But we have had an exceptionally busy year....
We will try to catch up with some of the highlights over the next couple of weeks - putting the results and news back in the time slots where they happened.

She won Best of Breed twice and then went on to win a Group 4th under Catherine Barlow and a Group 1st under Mark Houston-McMillan. It was a real thrill to show her in the Best in Show ring (and very nerve-wracking). She also won Best Owner Handled in Group that day.
Those wins have now put her as the #2 flat-coated Blazingstarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07059537277712102256noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8606104119087610110.post-17202480392496744052016-08-29T10:40:00.000-07:002016-09-26T10:42:45.167-07:00Best Puppy in ShowWhat an amazing weekend for Ole (Blazingstar Crimson Topaz - from our Flip x Puffin litter) and his owner Avey at the Saskatoon Dog Show. As well as winning more championship points, putting him at 8 points, he won Best Puppy in Group twice and went on to win Best Puppy in Show under judge Guy Jeavons.
We are very proud of both Ole and Avey!

There are 3 black females, 2 liver females, 3 black males and 1 liver male. As with her last litter, it was a relatively easy, quick and uncomplicated whelping and she is being a fantastic mother. As soon as we get a chance, we will update our website with more photos and information. Blazingstarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07059537277712102256noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8606104119087610110.post-63098404442009304412015-09-08T09:25:00.002-07:002015-09-08T09:25:57.702-07:00One Week to GoPuffin is looking rather large and starting to feel a bit uncomfortable, with just one week to go before she whelps. Up until the last day or so, she has continued to join us on all of our walks and is in great shape and good spirits.
We prepared the whelping room (our spare bedroom) over the weekend and Puffin seemed genuinely pleased to see the whelping box and had a good nesting Blazingstarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07059537277712102256noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8606104119087610110.post-64560928391820670782015-09-01T09:31:00.000-07:002015-09-08T09:32:24.774-07:00New Champion - Ch Blazingstar Rain DelayCongratulations to Darren, Michele and Amber for finishing Amber's championship with a big win at the Saskatoon shows! She picked up 3 points, winning Winners Bitch over 7 other lovely flat-coat girls, which completed her championship.
Amber is the first from our Rain litter (Seymour x Puffin) to finish, although Bow is very close behind at 9 points.

In March Lync finished his conformation championship, shown by Jolene. Then in May he went on to earn his Herding Instinct Certificate. Yes, you heard that right.... HERDING! With a spring litter and all of the usual summer activities, our blog fell by the wayside, but we will endeavour to catch up over the next few weeks.

From left to right: Amber, Bow, Minne (who came all the way from Utah!), Odin, Puffin and Sibley.
The Lethbridge show saw a family reunion of 5 of the 8 Rain litter puppies and their dam, Puffin! What a pleasure to be able to see so many of them together at 7 months old. Not to mention the fun of meeting up with their owners and families again.
In other show news......

Our original plan of breeding her to Tygwyn Tawney Porthos did not pan out, as the semen we brought over was not viable when thawed. That was a very disappointing, expensive and stressful discovery. A very quick decision was made to breed her to Rainesgift Seymour as we had semen stored from him at the same clinic. Willow is now Ch Blazingstar Brown Buffalobean. She is Begbie and Lupine's daughter.
She's a beautiful, sassy and fun little dog that reminds us very much of her grandmother, Tally.

Having two litters, even small litters, at the same time, was overwhelming and our attentions were 100% focused on raising the puppies last Fall. It's time to play catch-up!
Which means that we should introduce Larkin, Begbie and Cava's single puppy, born on September 11th, 2013.
Raising a single puppy was a hair raising and stressful experience but Blazingstarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07059537277712102256noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8606104119087610110.post-5406581331777019652013-08-26T11:26:00.000-07:002013-08-26T11:26:06.539-07:00Boy and Kona Puppies are Here! Kona whelped five puppies in the early hours of the morning on August 24th. There are 3 males and 2 females, all black and all doing fabulously so far. Kona is being a great mother and is fit and happy.
Thank-you to Judy and Allan for keeping her in such fantastic shape throughout her pregnancy!
These puppies are all spoken for and have great homes lined up.

Boy Wonder (Ch Flyway Farm's Boom Boom Pow SH WCX**) is a sweet, easy-going flat-coat with lots of energy and character. It was a great opportunity to get to know this lovely dog better. I think he enjoyed his prairie visit!
Thank-you so much to Xan Latta for letting us borrow Boy and use him at stud.
