Huxley's daughter, Marlene, whelped 7 puppies in Florida today. It sounds like the whelping went very smoothly and Marlene and her puppies are doing really well. There are 2 girls (1 black, 1 liver) and 5 boys (3 black, 2 liver). Congratulations to everyone at Kippenhill!!

Teva - Blazingstar Tansley
We recently had the pleasure of having Teva to stay with us for a while. While she was here, we had her patellas certification done (normal), took her to Calgary for a gonioscopy test (unaffected) and did some field training with her. She was a lovely dog to have around and our other dogs really enjoyed her playful nature.
In the field she is amazing - she has exceptional marking skills. We tried everything to catch her out - long distances, varied cover, slopes and confusing backgrounds.... but she aced every mark. She is super fast both on the way out and coming back with the bird. Her owners have done a great job training her!
Thank-you to Darren and Michele for letting her visit us for a while.

A Week at Blazingstar
It's hard to believe that Cava has only been here one week. She has won our hearts over, made us laugh and it's like she's always been here. She has settled in very well - sleeps through the night in a crate by our bed, has made friends with our other dogs and has fit right into our usual routines. We can't say that she's fully house-trained yet, but we are getting there!
She is a very keen retriever, bringing everything that is thrown for her back to us, including her first duck. We do a few short retrieving sessions every day and have already introduced some taller cover and greater distances. Liz has started on basic obedience training - mostly working on sitting still for more than a nano-second and some focus/attention work - interspersed with lots of play, of course.
Tinbie thinks she's wonderful and he is amazingly tolerant of her jumping all over him and pulling his ears and tail. She thinks he's pretty great too and follows him everywhere.

Success at the Red Deer Show
Tinbie and his sister Teva (Blazingstar Tansley) were entered in the Red Deer show this weekend.
Teva was Best of Opposite for 2 of the 3 days, picking up 3 championship points. She was shown beautifully by her owner, Michele.
Tinbie was Best of Breed all 3 days and then went on to win his first sporting group placement - a Group 3 under judge Leslie Rogers. It was very exciting to see him do so well in the group!

Welcome Cava!
Yesterday we picked up this bundle of joy and energy from the Calgary airport. Cava (Bramatha Under Pressure) flew all the way from England and arrived safe and sound. She comes to us from Sarah Whittaker's Bramatha Kennel in Suffolk and we are very grateful to Sarah for letting us have such a lovely puppy. Liz was fortunate to meet Cava, her littermates and other relatives on her recent trip to the UK.
Cava is setting in very well and making friends with our other dogs. She likes to carry anything and everything she can find - such a good little retriever!
